Building good habits

Scheduling a pediatric eye exam at Gilbert Eyecare is a smart and caring decision—a crucial first step in safeguarding your child’s vision and overall health. We’re here to support every aspect of their growing needs with our expert, family-friendly care.

What we test for

Ensuring your child begins regular pediatric eye exams as early as 6 months old is a vital step in setting them up for success. By starting these yearly exams early, you’re helping to guarantee that your child will step into school—and life—with the best possible vision and a solid foundation for learning and development.

  • Near and distance vision

What to expect

At Gilbert Eyecare, we understand that a child’s comfort is key to a successful eye exam. Whether your little one feels more secure on your lap or is excited to sit in the chair by themselves, we accommodate whatever makes you both most comfortable.

Vision Tests

Our optometrists will guide your child through the exam using playful toys and light simulations. The goal is to make the exam enjoyable while effectively assessing each eye’s responsiveness.

Interactive Assessments

Your child may be asked to identify common objects or use a computerized eye chart to check their vision. These interactive elements keep the exam fun and engaging for your child.

Eye Health Evaluation

We’ll check if glasses are needed and examine the alignment of your child’s eyes. Depending on the age of the child, additional tests may be provided.

Dr. Deena Falsetta-Gilbert

Dr. Falsetta-Gilbert is profoundly skilled in helping patients of all ages and walks of life. However, it is diagnosing and treating the visual problems that afflict children where she found her true calling. There is something beautiful in the way that Dr. Falsetta-Gilbert can connect with a child that might be experiencing trouble reading.
